The
Concessions Manager
is responsible for managing venue concessions, restaurant, and bar operations. This includes inventory controls, product ordering, employee training, cash controls, compliance with alcohol service policies, cleaning, safety, guest service, supervision, warehouse oversight, troubleshooting, event planning support, food preparation, and other tasks assigned by the DFB. The Concessions Manager must provide high-level event oversight, technical proficiency, and operational support to ensure the smooth operation of the Convention Center's Concessions Department. The Concessions Manager will supervise, coach, counsel, direct, train, and mentor employees, and may initiate employment actions such as hiring, termination, suspension, discipline, promotion, and transfer. They will oversee employee performance issues and manage employee relations to ensure a positive work environment. The employee must maintain excellent attendance and be available to work a variable, event-driven schedule including evenings and weekends. The role requires flexibility, professional presentation, interpersonal skills, self-direction, and strong technical aptitude. This role offers an annual salary of $68,000-$78,000. Located in downtown Providence, the
Rhode Island Convention Center
(RICC) features 100,000 sq ft of exhibition space, 20,000 sq ft of ballroom space, 23 meeting rooms, and more. It is connected to the Omni Providence Hotel, which offers additional meeting space, making it an ideal venue for various events. Responsibilities
Manage and mentor concessions staff, including disciplinary actions and performance documentation. Ensure proper setup of concessions locations, inventory verification, sanitation standards, and operational readiness. Oversee all concessions operations during events, including staffing, equipment, POS systems, guest service, and cleanup. Train employees on procedures and best practices. Cover or back-up any open position to ensure standards are met. Supervise and ensure compliance with all safety and alcohol distribution policies. Conduct post-event evaluations, data tracking, and reporting. Maintain a safe, harassment-free work environment and address safety concerns promptly. Provide ongoing training and foster a positive workplace environment. Obtain knowledge of all concession locations and related procedures. Qualifications
Associate’s Degree in Culinary Management, Business Management, or related field, with two or more years of concessions management experience, or four+ years of supervisory experience in food & beverage. Proficiency in computer applications, POS systems, and inventory management. Experience training staff and volunteers. Knowledge of sanitation, food handling, and alcohol service policies. Strong communication, decision-making, and team skills. Physical ability to perform job duties; food safety and alcohol service certifications preferred.
