Job Location: Concord, NC (Onsite)
Duration: 03+ months with possible extension
Shift: 08-10 hours/day; 40-50 hours/week. May increase to 60 hours/week during critical project activities. Some off-hours support on a rotating basis could be required.
Job Description:
Product of Position:
- Position will serve as an electrical/mechanical technician resource for Automation Engineering Department.
- Main responsibility is to function as electrical and mechanical technician support for existing and new fiber processing automation equipment with a focus on installation of new equipment.
Electrical functions include:
- Provide hands-on 2nd and 3rd level electrical and process troubleshooting support for existing production equipment.
- Specify components (i.e. sensors, cables, motors, drives, etc.) and integrate into existing electrical system
- Fabricate and install simple electrical systems such as junction boxes and low complexity panels.
- Identify vendors, obtain quotes and order components
- Perform process start-up support, design, and documentation of Mechanical and Electrical Systems for new or modified production equipment.
- Revise equipment drawings
- Update equipment documentation as needed
- Oversee work completed by contract trades during all aspects of equipment installation and conversion.
- Debug and resolve issues on system commissioning
- Work closely with cross functional engineering team including IT, process, mechanical and electrical engineers
Mechanical functions include:
- Specify components (i.e. piping, fittings, pumps, heaters) and integrate into existing mechanical system
- Design fabricated components as needed utilizing Inventor or AutoCAD
- Obtain quotes and order components
- Revise equipment drawings
- Oversee assembly of prototype system with some opportunity for hands on work
- Debug and resolve issues on system commissioning
- Work closely with cross functional engineering team including IT, process and electrical engineers
- Update equipment documentation at the completion of project
Required Education:
- AAS in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, or higher (BS in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology is acceptable, but this is a technician level role)
- Required Years and Area of Experience: 5+
Required Skills:
- Hands-on experience with electrical system troubleshooting including use of meter, preferably in an industrial setting.
- Experience working with automation systems including PLC, motors, drives, etc.
- Ability to understand electrical drawings and schematics
- Experience with mechanical system design and integration
- Ability to generate or modify mechanical models/drawings primarily using Inventor (or similar 3D CAD software) and some AutoCAD
- Knowledge and application of drafting standards
- Ability to work with machine shops/vendors to complete part procurement
- Experience with mechanical system troubleshooting including pneumatic controls, flow control, material handling, etc.
- Experience managing mechanics/electricians for equipment assembly and installation
- Familiarity with LO/TO safety requirements, OSHA standards and NFPA 70 E code
- Familiarity with MS Office - Word, Outlook, Excel
Desired Skills:
- AutoCAD or Autodesk Inventor/Vault experience.
- Experienced in mechanical system troubleshooting including pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, etc.
- Experience with automation equipment and conveyor systems
- Experienced in electrical system troubleshooting including low and medium voltage systems, PLCs, temperature controls safety systems, etc.
- Fanuc robot support, troubleshooting or maintenance experience
- Working knowledge of data analysis techniques using Microsoft Excel, Pi and Access Experience with manufacturing equipment repair and maintenance
- Working knowledge of data analysis techniques using Microsoft Excel, Pi and Access
