Develop and debug microcontroller-based embedded software (firmware) in C and C++ programming languages for automotive applications running on bare metal and real-time operating systems. Write and review documentation of design, architecture, test plans, test cases, code coverage, and functional requirements of same firmware. Perform technical reviews of peer code submissions and documentation changes. Develop and maintain board support packages for multiple platforms, including compiler, bootloader, drivers, and real-time operating systems. Build low-level software frameworks, interfaces, and infrastructure to make the company’s embedded application development faster, simpler, more portable, and more testable. Provide bring-up of new embedded software platforms by working with electrical engineers, suppliers, and vendors to identify and solve hardware and low-level software issues. Utilize Agile, Git, Python, and Unit Testing. Requires a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related Engineering field and 2 years of experience in a firmware or software engineer position or related in the automotive or manufacturing industry or Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related Engineering field and 5 years of experience in a firmware or software engineer position or related in the automotive or manufacturing industry. Experience must include the following: developing real time embedded software for safety critical systems; working with sensors, actuators and communication protocols CAN, LIN or IEC61850; providing multi-threaded C/C++ programming to implement new features for embedded platforms; and utilizing Agile, Git, Python, and Unit Testing.
