Senior/ Principal Electrical Engineer, Pulsed Power - Onsite

Sandia National Laboratories The Directed Energy Missions organization is seeking a motivated R&D Electrical Engineer to advance high-power microwave (HPM) systems. Responsibilities include designing high voltage switches, increasing capacitor energy density, developing mitigation methods for high voltage breakdown, and architecting pulsed power systems. Experience in HPM source development and RF propagation is essential. On a typical day, you may: Innovate and design advanced pulsed power systems Lead test execution and analyze data Present findings and prepare reports Develop new applications and project proposals Manage budgets and schedules Build relationships with customers and participate in professional communities This role requires onsite work and occasional travel. Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics, with 5+ years of related experience Experience in pulsed power system design, testing, and qualification Proficiency with electro-static and electro-dynamic modeling codes Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance Preferred Qualifications
Design experience with capacitors, high voltage switches, solid-state devices, Marx banks, magnetic pulse compression, NLTLs, LTDs, RF and antenna design, high-power amplifiers, and RF generation methods Experience collaborating with DoD, industry, and academia Leadership in lab capability development and existing HPM systems knowledge Strong team, documentation, troubleshooting, and project management skills Active DOE Q or DoD Secret security clearance, SCI clearance preferred Learn more about Sandia at:
