Location Options: Naperville, IL /Atlanta, GA /Ridgeland, MS REMOTE OPTION AVAILABLE System One is seeking Senior Electrical Engineers with nuclear experience to support our client’s Design Engineering Division in a long-term contract role. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing electrical design engineering solutions for traditional nuclear as well as some of the newest technologies in nuclear today. About the Job To deliver electrical engineering expertise to power generation utilities and other customers. The specific accountabilities of the position are as follows: Provide electrical power distribution engineering analysis for new and existing nuclear power plants. Perform condition assessments of electrical equipment such as transformers, breakers, switch gears, electric motors, motor control centers, generators and other power plant equipment. Develop life cycle plans, including inspection and test programs. Perform engineering design and analysis following established Engineering design and change control procedures. Perform electrical analysis, equipment protection, cable and electrical equipment selection. Interface with construction/procurement partners and utility stakeholders, throughout the lifecycle of the design project (i.e., from preliminary and conceptual engineering to detailed design, implementation and close-out) to provide practical and effective solutions as per requirements. Provide field support for design and design modifications, including provision of field engineering. Understand and assess client problems and determine appropriate means of solution. Conduct technical assessments and emergent troubleshooting/engineering to support new build projects and existing operating units. Interface effectively with other staff on multi-disciplinary design and technical projects. Stay current with developments within their field of expertise. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from ABET accredited school. Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/I&C Engineering 8-10+ years of experience in electrical design engineering in commercial nuclear. Proven track record in electrical design and analysis in electrical power distribution, including application to nuclear plants. Strong knowledge of generating station power upgrades including necessary system protection/system stability and relaying. In depth knowledge and experience of use of appropriate codes and standards, as applied to nuclear plant and conventional plants. Experience in project management and interfacing with and coordinating activities of multi-disciplinary teams. Familiarity with rigorous engineering change control processes and application of QA programs. Good working knowledge of basic generation plant design/operation related to Nuclear power plants, skid-based designs, or international power projects. Experience with Small Modular Reactor or Advance Reactor designs is an asset. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and have demonstrated a high commitment to quality. Excellent problem-solving skills. Experience in leading technical projects to successful conclusions. P.E. designation highly preferred. Good time management skills and demonstrated capability to interface effectively with and gain the trust of customers.
