POSITION: Assistant Production Electrician (hiring 2)
CLASSIFICATION: Seasonal - Full Time
STATUS: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Lighting Supervisor
SUPERVISES: Lighting
LOCATION: Williamstown, MA
COMPENSATION: $1050-$1250 Weekly
HIRING TIMELINE: Applications to be accepted until filled with a priority application deadline of 2/14/2025. Application review and interviews to be conducted starting 2/17/2025 with an anticipated start date of 06/09/25
JOB SUMMARY:
The Williamstown Theatre Festival, renowned for its commitment to artistic excellence, is seeking a skilled and passionate Assistant Production Electrician to join our team for the 2025 Season. Reporting to the Lighting Supervisor, this role is integral within the production department, overseeing the execution of lighting designs for multiple productions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support Production Electrician with the development and implementation of plans for the load-in and strike of lighting equipment to ensure a smooth and timely process.
- Collaborate with the Lighting Supervisor and Production Electrician to ensure lighting designs comply with safety standards and protocols.
- Support in the installation, operation, and maintenance of lighting equipment during load-ins, technical rehearsals, and performances, ensuring efficient execution.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any technical lighting issues as they arise, performing necessary equipment maintenance.
- Support the sourcing and construction of specialty lighting elements and assist with equipment storage and inventory management during load-outs and off-season periods.
- Maintain equipment status records and coordinate necessary replacements or repairs with the Production Electrician.
- Assist with the load-in and load-out of campus spaces, including offices and workspaces, while tracking equipment inventory and organizing off-season storage.
- Work closely with the lighting team, designers, and other production departments to interpret and integrate lighting designs, while managing schedules, labor issues, and fostering staff development.
- Ensure production staff in all facilities used by the production department adhere to safe working practices and comply with festival safety protocols and align with facility protocols set forth by Williams College.
- Embrace the Festival’s commitment to EDIA and Anti-Racism by actively participating in and encouraging behaviors among staff members that exemplify respect; interrupting microaggressions and other behaviors that hinder our EDIA and Anti-Racism efforts; engaging in the diversification of the workforce; demonstrating a degree of cultural competency that encourages healthy relationships with all company members.
- Participate in season debrief meetings and document key takeaways to improve the position and scenery department operations for the following year.
- Regularly supervise the work of two or more employees, providing input and recommendations on their advancement, promotion, or other status changes, with such input carrying significant weight.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in a professional theatre setting, demonstrating expertise in lighting design execution for various theatrical productions.
- In-depth knowledge of lighting systems and equipment.
- Leadership, interpersonal, and management skills, with a track record of working with diverse teams in a supportive and collaborative environment.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic production environment, with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and timelines.
- Must be able to work long shifts on foot. Valid driver's license required.
- An essential function of this job involves in-person work in Williamstown, MA.
