Position Summary The PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) PTH (Plated Through-Hole) Hand Insertion Operator is responsible for accurately inserting through-hole components into printed circuit boards according to assembly drawings, work instructions, and bill of materials (BOM). The operator ensures high-quality workmanship and compliance with IPC and company standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Read and interpret assembly drawings, BOMs, and work instructions to properly identify and insert PTH components.
Insert electronic components into designated holes on PCBs while maintaining correct orientation and alignment.
Ensure correct component values and locations are used based on visual aids and documentation.
Trim component leads as needed and prepare boards for soldering (wave or hand soldering processes).
Perform visual inspections for correct placement, polarity, and damage before soldering.
Flag and report any discrepancies or quality issues to the team lead or supervisor.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area and follow ESD precautions.
Meet daily production targets while maintaining high-quality standards.
Assist with rework and touch-up tasks when needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
Ability to distinguish electronic components and read assembly documentation.
Familiarity with IPC-A-610 workmanship standards.
Basic knowledge of ESD handling procedures.
Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Education & Experience
~ High school diploma or equivalent.
~1–2 years of experience in electronics assembly or related manufacturing role.
~ IPC-A-610 certification or equivalent training.
~ Experience working with both leaded and RoHS-compliant assemblies.
~ Previous experience with wave soldering or selective soldering processes.
