Assistant Superintendent of Schools
Purpose
To act as the Superintendent in the absence of the Superintendent. The Assistant Superintendent will facilitate the development and implementation of district-wide curricula, assessment, and instruction and staff professional development programs. (S)he ensures the district/school educational objectives are aligned to state frameworks and to instructional practices that support the vision, mission, and values of the Cape Elizabeth School Department. The Assistant Superintendent assists the Superintendent in all matters as defined by the Superintendent.
Education/Certification
Maine Department of Education certifications, endorsements and/or licenses: 015 – Asst. Superintendent Minimum of Master's degree in curriculum and instruction, educational leadership or related field Qualifications
Successful building-based leadership experience Excellent communication and collaboration skills Working knowledge of curriculum development, professional development and assessment Working knowledge of Maine State Learning Results and requirements of the state & local assessment system Ability to evaluate existing programs and recommend new initiatives relative to curricular and professional staff needs Working knowledge of school policy and school law Application Instructions:
