Senior Scientist - Computational Materials Science

The Computational Materials Science Scientist will apply advanced computational chemistry and crystallography tools to predict solid-state and particle properties of small molecules, aiding in drug development and commercialization. This role involves collaboration within multidisciplinary teams and offers opportunities for developing novel computational methods. Responsibilities:
Apply physics-based computational approaches to predict molecular properties and performance. Conduct crystal structure prediction and free energy calculations for polymorph stability. Use computational tools such as molecular simulations, DFT, and interaction maps for design and derisking of solid forms. Develop physics/ML-AI based tools to study particle properties and surface performance. Collaborate with project teams to define screening and characterization strategies. Oversee external partners' computational analyses and provide guidance. Address scientific problems with solid-state computational techniques. Lead the development of new scientific approaches within the organization. Basic Qualifications:
PhD in Computational Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or related; or Master’s with 5-10 years relevant experience. Strong coding skills in languages such as C/C++, Python, Perl. Experience with UNIX/Linux and HPC environments. Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with software like GROMACS, Gaussian, VASP, etc., and CCDC tools. Knowledge of physical chemistry and materials science concepts. Strong analytical and mathematical skills. Position is Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, with overtime as needed. Candidates near Groton, CT are encouraged to apply.
