*THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE OFFERED A SALARY OF $80,000*
The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services and provides subsidized childcare vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child maltreatment. In juvenile justice, ACS oversees detention, placement, and programs for youth in the community.
ACS's Division of Family Permanency Services (FPS) ensures high-quality services are provided to children in foster care by supporting provider agency staff with technical assistance and other services. FPS staff offer guidance on child welfare policies and procedures to improve service delivery and achieve safety, permanency, and well-being for children in foster care.
The Office of Older Youth Development Services (OYDS) is responsible for technical assistance around permanency planning and promoting shorter lengths of stay in residential placements for youth in foster care. The office also focuses on the well-being and safety of youth aged 12-21. The Office of Older Youth Services includes various program areas such as Youth Justice, Missing Children’s Outreach, Supervision to 21, IPAS-CW, APPLA Monitoring, Teen Specialist Unit, and others, providing guidance on issues like child sex trafficking, transitional plans, and independent living services.
The APPLA Monitor Key Functions And Responsibilities include:
Review and analyze data collection, assess individual PYA agency plans for youth in foster care.
Randomly review PYA/Discharge and Supervision to 21 (S21) checklists.
Assess provider agency’s strengths and limitations affecting PYA performance.
Run monthly APPLA+ discharge reports to collect and review discharge checklist and plan submissions.
Monitor transition of S21 cases from provider agency to ACS.
Identify and address systemic issues by providing technical assistance to increase successful submissions and permanency.
Assist in developing communication tools, training, and other deliverables to promote quality practice.
Meet with provider agencies across NYC/NYS to discuss PYA trends.
Run compliance reports and coordinate system-wide PYA compliance efforts.
Attend meetings and consult with ACS divisions to integrate PYA issues into practice and assessment tools.
Review alerts and progress notes related to APPLA+ cases.
Troubleshoot S21 compliance issues and provide quality assurance.
Develop capacity-building plans for providers to improve PYA outcomes.
Provide guidance on credit checks, transitional plans, and independent living services.
