- Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, skid steers, dozers and various others.
- Install water, sanitary and storm sewer structures and pipe systems.
- Lay out pipe routes, following specifications or blueprints, and coordinating layouts with supervisor.
- Cut pipes to required lengths.
- Connect pipe pieces and seal joints, using mechanical connections and fittings as required.
- Occasionally provide direction to laborers and trucks on site.
- Perform various labor duties on job sites.
- Required to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
- Perform daily pre and post trip inspections.
- Fuel and grease equipment daily.
- Comply with all company health and safety guidelines.
- Responsible for own transportation to job sites.
- Responsible to provide own personal protective equipment.
- Other duties will be assigned as required.
Desired Skills and Experience
- 3-5 years of previous heavy equipment operating experience and pipelaying required.
- Previous experience in the excavating industry is a must.
- Working knowledge and understanding of reading drawings, reading locates and setting grades.
- Must be safety conscious.
- Excellent team player.
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions.
- Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Must be punctual and personable.
