Location: Monroe Middle School DEFINITION: The Behavior Intervention Specialist will lead our alternative to suspension program. They will work with their partner schools to provide students ongoing educational opportunities as well as social-emotional support while in the program.
KEY FUNCTIONS:
Program Development
Develop and support middle school alternative to suspension program Work with the partner school to individualize student support Provide direct and consultative support and assess the individual needs to students
Student Support
Supports student content area academics. Have knowledge of middle curriculum and content Support student social and emotional wellbeing Demonstrate an understanding, patient, respectful and receptive attitude toward exceptional needs students of varied age groups
Communication
Effective communication to student, home school, and families Facilitate reentry meetings with students, home school, and families Consult with administrators, psychologists, teachers and parents, serve as an integral member of the student services team, attend meetings and parent conferences, as needed
Requirements
State of Illinois Professional Educator License Endorsements in Secondary Education and General Administrative LBS1 preferred Bi-lingual preferred
