Overview
The Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT) office in San Francisco Bay, part of the Belgian Consulates is currently accepting applications for its internship program during the summer and/or fall of 2025.
This is a hands-on opportunity to gain experience in international technology diplomacy. Interns will work closely with our team across the USA to support Flemish tech companies looking to expand into the U.S. market and US tech companies looking to expand into Europe.
About Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT)
FIT promotes international business in Flanders, Belgium, as a key driver of economic growth. The agency supports Flemish companies in their global expansion and attracts foreign investment to Flanders, contributing to the region's sustainable economic development.
Responsibilities
Interns at FIT San Francisco are responsible for:
- CRM Management & Administration: Updating our CRM system and assisting with general office management tasks.
- Trade Support: Supporting Flemish companies with export inquiries related to the West Coast market.
- Economic Research: Researching various Technology domains
- Content Creation: social media posts and market updates.
- Knowledge Building & Sharing: Assisting with internal knowledge-sharing efforts.
- Meeting Support: Providing assistance for trade meetings and business interactions.
Duration & Requirements
- Preference for STEM backgrounds / candidates passionate about technology
- Availability: Internships are currently available between July 1st 2025 and December 31st, 2025.
- During this window, interns must be able to commit to a minimum period of 12 weeks.
- An internship agreement supported by an educational institution is required as the internship should take place within the framework of a study program and in cooperation with your college or university.
- Compensation: This is an unpaid internship. We may be able to support your visa and will reimburse the costs of commuting locally. Please note that you may be eligible for a scholarship, and we encourage you to explore all options.
- Language & Background: proficiency in English is required. Dutch strong plus.
- Familiarity with Flanders and Belgium is preferred but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of the U.S. market and business environment is highly desirable.
- For security reasons, interns are required to use their own laptops.
