What you'll do
Viasat’s Government Systems Division seeks a Capture and Strategy Professional with a proven track record of identifying, qualifying, shaping, and winning work to support the U.S. Department of Defense, specifically the United States Air Force / United States Space Force. The selected candidate will:
- Analyze US Government programs, command missions, service requirements, industry trends, and Viasat strategy to develop, present, and lead pursuit of long-term / large value (>50M) propositions for the DoD.
- Build, position, and capture opportunities / procurements.
- Form and lead multidisciplinary teams to develop complex solutions for specific US Government opportunities.
- Develop capture strategies and plans, compelling proposals, and customer influence meetings.
- Support development of financial solutions, provide market insights to competitive offerings, price to win, and should-cost analysis.
- Support post-sales activities such as award / loss analysis to identify lessons learned and trends for future opportunities.
The ideal candidate will have domain expertise in either the US Air Force or DoD Space, focusing on large acquisition opportunities. They will serve as the SME for understanding programs, budgets, and requirements, and will help lead the team on program influence, relationships, current and future requirements, and Defense Industrial Base relationships / partnering.
Day-to-day responsibilities
- Develop and qualify opportunities within the USAF, USN, TRMC, Air / Missile Defense, and / or Space sectors.
- Understand domain(s), find and qualify opportunities, and partner with business areas to establish a robust pipeline.
- Create, manage, and implement market strategies within targeted markets and agencies.
- Identify and develop investment opportunities to support customer initiatives.
- Present milestones to senior leadership to support investment and pursuit strategies.
- Engage with customers to understand their problems and shape opportunities and requirements.
- Market the company brand, establish customer expectations, and shape opportunities through white papers, demonstrations, and RFIs.
- Support capture and proposal activities to ensure continuity across the business development lifecycle.
- Participate effectively in formal presentations to clients and partners.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 20+ years of service within the US DoD or related industry positions
- Established network of customer contacts in the relevant markets
- Knowledge of Federal procurement processes (IDAs, OTAs, BAAs, etc.)
- Understanding of DoD budget processes
- Proficiency in MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
- Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal)
- Active Secret security clearance
Preferred qualifications
- Active Top Secret security clearance
- Master’s degree in a technical discipline
- Formal training in capture processes
- Experience as a DoD acquisition program manager
- Experience with industry program management, marketing, capture, and proposal activities
Compensation and benefits
Salary range: $192,400 - $334,800 annually. Compensation is based on experience and background. Additional incentives and benefits are provided, including medical, financial, and wellness programs. Learn more at Viasat Benefits.
