The nation's leading independent provider of fully code-compliant Life Safety and Hazardous Material Emergency Alarm Systems, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented PLC Programmer to join their growing team. This role is essential in designing, programming, and maintaining advanced Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems for gas detection. The PLC Programmer will play a key role in ensuring the functionality, reliability, and compliance of gas detection systems across various industrial environments. They are looking for a responsible and consistent professional with strong problem-solving skills, technical expertise, and a proactive mindset. The ideal candidate should be capable of working both independently and collaboratively, handling multiple projects, and effectively communicating with clients and team members.
PLC Programmer
Responsibilities: Write, test, and debug PLC code for gas detection systems using Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or similar platforms Ensure seamless integration of gas detectors with PLCs for real-time monitoring and control Diagnose and resolve PLC, sensor, and system-related issues to maintain uptime and reliability Perform system calibration to ensure accurate gas detection readings per industry standards Documentation & Compliance: Maintain clear, updated system configurations, as-built drawings, and PLC documentation for compliance and future reference Commission and debug systems on-site; 10% travel required, with some overnight stays Attend Teams meetings for project updates, coordinate with project managers, and support field technicians Submit weekly time sheets, expense mileage, and pick up parts from local suppliers as needed PLC Programmer
Requirements:
5-10 years of PLC programming and system integration experience Proficiency in RS Logix 5000 and Siemens HMI Software Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with gas detection technologies, hazardous materials safety protocols, and industry regulations Strong troubleshooting skills with electrical schematics, wiring plans, and component debugging Ability to update as-built drawings and add clear PLC code documentation Experience working with project managers, technicians, and accounting teams Responsible, strong communicator, proactive problem-solver, and capable of handling high-pressure situations Experience in industrial safety systems or hazardous material monitoring Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, and gas detection calibration standards Certification in PLC programming or gas detection technologies Benefits:
