Superintendent
Location: Davidson, NC (3 hour travel radius)
Salary: $95-$120k
POSITION SUMMARY
Assist Project Management and Safety Team, with task assignments related to safety, quality of work, equipment utilization and productivity. Assist the Project Management Team and field crews with the successful project execution of assigned projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensuring Safety
Ensuring that all applicable OSHA and safety rules, regulations and guidelines are always understood and adhered to by personnel, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Assist Superintendents and employees by ensuring that the strategic priority of safety is maintained operationally daily.
- Make safety a priority in each day’s activities, be intolerant of violations or excuses by other parties and require prompt correction.
- Ensure that employees, vendors and sub-contractors adhere to all of the company and OSHA guidelines including any job specific rules and regulations that are required by our clients.
- Advise foreman and document other trades of their safety violations that may affect and if repeatedly ignored, advise client.
- Troubleshoot and solve any special problems as they arise on the job site in order to: (a) keep employees safe, (b) ensure the work activities remain on schedule and (c) that customers' expectations are exceeded.
- Report safety violations and any foreseeable safety issues directly to site Superintendent.
- Ensure that the Safety team is aware of the upcoming task that may require their help.
- Assist the Safety Team in the development of improved safety procedures. Maintain leadership of safety initiative.
- Perform all assigned roles, responsibilities, and related work processes/tasks in the safest possible manner. Ensure that a safe, accident/incident-free work environment is maintained for all co-workers, customers, clients, suppliers, etc. at all times.
Operations
Assist with planning and selecting of materials and equipment for projects. Review schedules and budgets with the Project Management team. Assist with the manpower and project needs. Assess and reduce un-wanted variation on jobsites
- Oversee Foreman and assist them with their daily needs.
- Assist Project Manager and General Superintendent and Foreman in establishing crew size, production rates, crew leadership, based on project schedule.
- Assist Foreman with reviewing of the contract documents, drawings and specifications.
- Seat the project handoff and provide project team with any unusual findings within the contract documents.
- Assist Foreman and the General Superintendent with manpower needs throughout the job schedule.
- Provide the project team with an outside looking in view of the project along with recommendations.
- Conduct onsite inspections along with the General Superintendent and Foreman and provide reports to VP of Field operations.
- Help coordinate the productive use of company resources.
- Provide leadership to Foreman in developing the Site-Specific Safety Plan. If significant changes occur during the duration of the project, ensure that appropriate changes are made in site safety plan and transmitted to Project Manager and Safety Director. Ensure that all subcontractors adhere to our safety program.
- Provide leadership to Foremen/Lead Personnel in the development, implementation and monitoring of Pre-Task Safety Plans. Ensure that Pre-Task Safety Plans are in alignment with the Site-Specific Safety Plan and the Corporate Safety and Health Program.
- Provide operational guidelines and procedures to all Foreman to ensure that all equipment on job sites is in proper and safe working order. Ensure that safe equipment operation procedures are always followed.
- Provide operational guidelines and procedures to all Foreman to ensure that all equipment materials and supplies are handled (e.g., staging, storing, cleaning, servicing, loading for transport, etc.) safely on all job sites.
Staffing
Ensuring that appropriate personnel are available to complete construction activities within budget, on schedule, and to contract specifications/requirements.
- Coordinate the interviewing and hiring of any "locally employed" craft-level workers as necessary to finish the building project on schedule.
- Cooperate with other Superintendents to transfer craft-level workers to various job sites, as necessary.
- Make recommendations on pay, promotion, and discharge decisions related to other Supervisors and Craft-level personnel.
- Ensure that project morale is maintained, and employee needs are being met.
- Assist Foreman with the development of other craft level personnel.
Constructing
Working with the General Superintendent and Project Manager to complete process integration building activities safely and within the overall building project's scope and schedule.
Training
Mentoring Foreman in accordance with the Training Program as
necessary to improve worker safety, quality and productivity at the job site.
- Suggest training needs for Foreman.
- Train Foreman in their job responsibilities and work tasks.
- Assist identifying potential candidates for training and help coordinate their training efforts.
