Responsibilities:
- Perform on-site installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repairs for electrical switchgear controls and stand-by power systems.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure the optimal performance of electrical systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues in switchgear and control systems, implementing effective solutions.
- Interpret and analyze electrical schematics.
- Work with PLC systems and ladder logic.
- Mark up and revise electrical drawings as required.
- Possess expertise in networks such as Modbus, Ethernet, and fiber optics.
- Work with SCADA and HMI systems.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their technical needs, offering expert recommendations and advice.
- Ensure all field service activities adhere to safety standards and industry regulations.
- Document and provide detailed service reports after each job.
- Offer technical support and training to clients and junior engineers as needed.
- Stay informed on the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in the industry.
- Travel to client sites as needed, sometimes with short notice.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience in electrical field service, especially with switchgear controls and stand-by systems.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical switchgear, control systems, and backup power solutions.
- Proven expertise in troubleshooting and repairing complex electrical systems.
- Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics.
- Familiarity with PLCs and ladder logic programming.
- Ability to make revisions and mark up drawings as needed.
- Experience with network protocols like Modbus, Ethernet, and fiber optics.
- Working knowledge of SCADA and HMI systems.
- Understanding of industry standards and safety regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel up to 60% of the time, including weekends and holidays.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or similar certification (not required).
- Experience with specific brands of switchgear and control systems, particularly Siemens, ABB, Eaton, and Schneider.
- Additional certifications in electrical safety or related fields.
