Fitchburg State University, Fitchburg, MA Type: Full-time, benefits,
professional salary Salary Range: \$142,000 - \$147,000 annually *The
Executive Director of Capital Planning and Maintenance provides
leadership and oversight of the University\'s operations and maintenance
functions, including custodial services, skilled trades, power plant
operations, facilities repair, grounds maintenance, material management,
and event management. Additional duties include supervising Custodial
Services, Trades, Power Plant, Events Management, Work Order Management,
Materials Management, Environmental Health & Safety, and outside
vendors. Works with campus constituencies including Housing, Student
Affairs, Finance, Technology Services, University Police, and faculty to
ensure appropriate standards for operations, maintenance, and security
are met. Directs and manages the personnel in the office that provide
oversight to the work order system; contract management of outside
contractors and vendors; fleet management; and overall customer service
for the department. Works with the Associate Vice President to identify
and implement measures for efficient building and grounds operations and
energy reduction initiatives. Provides leadership and direction to the
events team. Maintains critical physical plant information in various
formats and provides data reporting. Position requires the ability to
work nights and weekends as* **Main Responsibilities:** -Lead campus
facilities operations: Oversee custodial, trades, power plant, repairs,
grounds, safety, and event support. -Staff supervision: Manage employees
and outside vendors, ensuring quality and efficiency. -Coordinate with
campus departments: Work with Housing, Student Services, Finance,
Police, And Others To Meet Operational Standards. -Policy Development
Create and implement procedures for maintenance, safety, and events.
Preventative maintenance: Develop schedules and programs to keep
facilities in good condition. -Monitor utilities: Track and report on
energy and water use. -Emergency response: Handle urgent issues like
HVAC failures, power outages, leaks, and snow removal, including
after-hours response. -Asset management: Oversee equipment and vehicles,
plan replacements, and manage lifecycle costs. -Capital planning: Assist
in long-term campus renovation and improvement projects, working with
state agencies. -Budget management: Develop and control operational
budgets for facilities. -Vendor supervision: Oversee external
contractors and ensure they meet contractual and performance standards.
Collaborate with campus offices: Coordinate with Academic, Housing,
Procurement, and others on operational needs. -Safety compliance: Ensure
all safety standards, fire codes, OSHA, and building laws are followed.
Personnel management: Support HR with staff evaluations and union
negotiations if applicable. **Qualifications:** -5-7 years of experience
in facilities/maintenance, especially in higher education. -Knowledge of
building codes, safety regulations, and facilities management.
Experience managing union staff or large teams preferred. -Strong
communication and organizational skills. -Proficient with work order
systems and facility management software. -Ability to handle multiple
Priorities Independently. -Background Check Required. Preferred
Master?s degree in a related field. -Experience working with state
agencies (DCAMM/MSCB) and university facilities. **Benefits:**
