Execute assignments requiring application of standard and advance engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out geo-structural engineering tasks. Perform engineering analyses for design of deep foundations (helical piers, drilled shafts, micropiles, driven piles, anchors, and others) and retaining structures. Perform limit equilibrium and finite element stability modeling for soil and rock slopes and retaining structures. Interface closely with project-level and senior leadership personnel within the company, including geotechnical, geological, structural, transmission line, and civil engineering, GIS, and construction management team members. Participate in oversight and management of field subcontractor activities, such as geotechnical drilling and testing and/or forensics studies. Develop written reports and/or provide verbal communication of information in a professional and appropriate manner under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer. Perform occasional site visits to project sites located throughout North America. Participation in sector focused professional organizations, and attendance and presentations at industry events. Work under supervision of Project Engineer, Senior Engineer, or Project Manager in a professional office setting. Required Experience and Education
Required - bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field Required - Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals in Engineering (FE) certification with an interest in obtaining Professional Engineer licensure in one or multiple states Required - excellent written and verbal communication skills. Required - proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams Required - ability to work with moderate supervision and maximum efficiency in a small or medium size office setting Preferred - Master’s degree in the field of geotechnical engineering or engineering geology Preferred – 0 to 4 years design experience in the geotechnical, structural, transmission, or substation engineering field Preferred - familiarity with use and application of systems such as the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS), International Society of Rock Mechanics (ISRM) rock quality scale, and other published geotechnical standards of practice Preferred - familiarity with the use of the following computer software: LPILE, GROUP, FAD, GRLWeap, SHAFT, APILE and SLIDE, RS2, Plaxis, RISA, INVENTOR, or SPColumn Travel Requirements
Up to 15% of the work year.
