About us
Illinois Safety is an American Heart Association training site with locations in Chicago, Elmwood Park, Schaumburg, Bolingbrook, Oak Brook, Glenview, and Naperville. We provide CPR, AED, first aid, BLS, PALS and ACLS classes to people throughout Chicagoland. In addition to our eight training locations in the Chicago area, we also provide on-site training to businesses, schools, churches and more. Unlike some other providers, all our classes are taught by instructors who are professional firefighters, paramedics, and nurses.
We're looking for an instructor for our 222 S Morgan St, Chicago, IL location and our 7 Conti Pkwy, Elmwood Park, IL 60707 location. We're flexible on the days of the week but instructor would be working 3 days per week and 8 hours each day.
Minimum Requirements
The ideal candidate should have the following:
- At least two (2) years of patient care experience
- Current certification and license as a Paramedic, Nurse, or other comparable profession.
- Current American Heart Association ACLS, PALS, and BLS Instructor certifications are not required.
- High school diploma
- Associates degree or higher (preferred)
- Current Illinois Driver’s License
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including ability to effectively operate technology, training equipment, and other classroom / healthcare equipment
- Must be able to effectively teach and administer all aspects of AHA program curriculum, including didactic, skills, labs, and evaluations.
- Must be able to teach for extended periods of time with regularly scheduled 8 hour teaching days while maintaining an engaging learning environment.
Duties & Responsibilities

- Deliver high-quality AHA courses at our locations in Chicago & Elmwood Park.
- Ensure program standards are successfully fulfilled each day
- Ensure all students receive curriculum training that meets and exceeds industry standards
- Ensure a safe learning environment for all students
- Complete all required course paperwork within required timelines
- Mentor other instructors
- Maintain equipment, supplies, and facilities in excellent working order
- Communicate effectively with team members, clients, and students
- Work schedules may vary based on company needs, but are typically as follows:
- 830AM-330PM Monday-Friday
- All instructors are required to work one Saturdays/Sundays per month minimum. More weekend availability if desired.
- Instructors will be assigned to teach on-site at schools, businesses, hospitals, and other facilities. A company vehicle or mileage reimbursement will be available.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall learning experience
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance
