This hospital-based position collaborates with medical, surgical, emergency, and social work services to address complex medical and behavioral health needs at Virginia Mason Medical Center. Responsibilities include providing care for patients experiencing delirium, mood, psychotic, anxiety, substance use, and somatic symptom disorders. The Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry service also manages patients under the Involuntary Treatment Act with Single Bed Certification. The role involves educating clinical teams about behavioral health care, including residency programs, and working closely with physicians, advanced practitioners, trainees, nurses, social workers, and other health professionals in a team-based environment. Schedule/Call
Consult psychiatry team operates weekdays from 8 am to 5 pm. No overnight or weekend responsibilities, covered by an external telepsychiatry service. Section Head Role
The Section Head provides strategic oversight and leadership for Hospital Psychiatry, collaborating with the Department of Medicine and Department of Hospital Care. This role involves achieving strategic and business objectives, ensuring quality care through evidence-based practices, and team development. Qualifications
BE/BC Psychiatrist Fellowship training and C-L Board Certification preferred Leadership experience in Psychiatry Ability to obtain medical license in Washington State DEA license with full prescriptive authority for practice needs The position offers a stipend as part of the compensation package.
