Paris Regional offers a 23-bed Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit and a wide range of inpatient and outpatient medical services tailored to the community's needs. The hospital is known for quality care and a commitment to improving lives with innovative, compassionate health services.
Position Summary
The Unit Secretary is responsible for managing administrative tasks in a hospital unit setting, supporting both clinical staff and patients. This role involves recordkeeping, communication facilitation, and non-clinical assistance to ensure smooth unit operations.
Essential Functions
- Acknowledge and direct visitors promptly and courteously
- Initiate medical records upon admission, maintain during stay, and finalize at discharge in the EMR
- Act as liaison between physicians, unit personnel, and ancillary staff
- Handle incoming and outgoing phone calls; manage patient and visitor inquiries
- Monitor patient call lights and provide non-clinical assistance or alerts as needed
- Escort patients to appointments and assist in the hospital cafà when required
- Maintain professional and helpful demeanor with patients, families, and team members
- Perform additional duties as assigned
- High school diploma required; two years of college education preferred
- Prior experience in a hospital or healthcare setting preferred
- Proficient with computer systems and electronic medical records
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff and maintain confidentiality
- Familiarity with medical terminology is desirable
