JOB SUMMARY:
Serves as a member of the Illinois Crisis Prevention Network team responsible for behavioral assessments, functional assessment, behavior program design and development (based upon ABA principles), data tracking and analyses, and ongoing monitoring of efficacy of the program plan. Provides crisis services for individuals at risk of being displaced from their current placement, ensures family and/or support staff are appropriately trained and have the tools needed to effectively implement the behavioral support plan for the individual. Collects and analyzes data garnered from observations and from both formal and informal assessments.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Functional Assessment: Carried out at one of three levels, Level I (Informal, where motivation for exhibiting maladaptive behaviors is identified by analysis of information obtained from caregivers through interviews and questionnaires); Level II (Descriptive, based upon actual observations of the individual at various times of day and repeated observations across time); and Level III (Analogue, based upon actual presentation of antecedent stimuli and response consequences). To be completed informally on all incoming youth and others as necessary, whenever a specific intervention program is appropriate, and a diagnostic baseline is necessary.
- Design of Data Collection Systems: Design and implement data collection forms and procedures, to best quantify behavior data across various environments and settings.
- Data Analysis: Plot and systematically analyze program and baseline data in terms of levels, trends, variability, and functional relationships.
- Design of Behavior Support Plans (BSPs): Design behavior support plans, based upon functional assessment and data analysis. BSPs may be formal (required for any youth with a Level II intervention, including use of psychotropic medications) or informal, which may take the form of general behavior support strategies or a detailed set of procedures outlining a positive intervention.
- Positive Interventions for Teaching Adaptive Behaviors: Components include task analysis, identification of reinforcers, appropriate task prompts, schedule(s) of reinforcement, procedures for generalization of learned skills, and design of an appropriate data collection system.
- Design of Response Reduction Interventions: Components include identification of intervention procedures that are the least intrusive techniques that will reduce the display of the targeted behavior. Must be based upon adequate functional analysis, an appropriate data collection system, concurrent implementation of positive interventions to develop replacement behaviors, and demonstration of necessary skills by staff who did receive training.
- Training:
- Implementation of Interventions and/or to collect Data: Training includes specific and detailed information and a demonstration on how to conduct planned interventions and how to collect appropriate data, with appropriate return demonstration by staff.
- Orientation Training: Orientation training concerning basic principles of behavior analysis, overview of intellectual/developmental disabilities and mental illness, dual diagnosis, Etc.
- Work closely with community agencies, schools, and Clinical Administrative Review Teams to ensure training in and implementation of necessary support strategies in the attempt to generalize these strategies from one setting to another.
- Attend and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Program planning and development: provide ongoing input into long-range plans for the Illinois Crisis Network Prevention.
- May assist in organizing and completing follow-up surveys, and providing summary reports on the clinical outcomes established for the ICPN.
- Participate actively in problem-solving; provide solution-oriented and proactive recommendations; maintain effective and respectful interactions; communicate clearly and effectively; practice in accord with APA and BACB ethical standards.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable DHS regulations and licensure requirements.
- Assumes responsibility as a mandated reporter concerning incidents of purported abuse/neglect of individuals as outlined in the agencys policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
- Masters degree in applied behavior analysis or masters degree in related discipline (e.g. clinical psychology), with major coursework in behavior analysis and modification, from a graduate program accredited by the Association for Behavior Analysis.
- Experience and/or specialized knowledge in one or more of the following: Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities; Autism Spectrum Disorders. Knowledge of psychopharmacology and/or Mental Health issues is also helpful.
- Credentialed as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst or certification pending with successful completion of qualifying examination.
- The ability to communicate clearly and effectively (both written and orally) in a professional manner, with all levels of employees (professionals, teachers, paraprofessionals, direct care, etc.). Also, the ability to interact effectively on a multidisciplinary team.
- Two plus years working with individuals who have intellectual/developmental disabilities, autism and dual diagnosis (ID + Axis I) is preferred.
- Two plus years experience in functional assessment, behavior program development/monitoring, and competency-based staff training procedures in program implementation. Additional expertise in discrete trial training, functional communication training, prompting, prompt fading/ differential reinforcement schedules, and crisis intervention strategies is preferred.
