Location: Norwalk, CT - this is a hybrid role with 3 days in office.
Hearst Connecticut Media Group is seeking a dynamic, strategic hands-on financial leader to join our team as the Financial Director. This role offers the opportunity to drive financial excellence for one of the nation's most respected media organizations, overseeing accounting operations, budgeting, and financial controls for our diversified B2B and B2C brands including the State of Connecticut's fastest-growing media outlet CTInsider, a comprehensive suite of digital marketing solutions sold statewide, and 10 daily and 22 weekly newspapers such as Connecticut Post, New Haven Register, Waterbury Republican American, Stamford Advocate, & Greenwich Time.

What You'll Do Own the monthly financial close process
to ensure accuracy and efficiency, partnering with the CFO and Assistant Controller to meet deadlines. Leadership role in enterprise budgeting, performance monitoring, and expense reporting
for Connecticut Media Group and its subsidiaries. Assist in defining product strategy
through rigorous analytical review of trends and outcomes. Lead and optimize advertising accounting operations
including ad order entry, revenue recognition, advertising margins, commission processing, and goaling. Develop and monitor financial KPIs
to track and drive cost reduction initiatives including product margin optimization, overhead reduction, and budgetary adherence across the enterprise. Ensure financial integrity
- overseeing internal controls, audits, and compliance. Provide technical accounting guidance and collaborate on system conversions, acquistion integrations, and process improvements. Collaborate with centralized accounting teams across Hearst's Newspaper Division
for GL, Cash Application, Collections, & sales tax to ensure processes are operating smoothly Approve
invoices for accuracy, proper documentation, and compliance with company policies . Partner with Department Leads
to optimize profit contribution, enhance cross department collaboration, and improve business operating costs . What You Bring
CPA preferred
with
5+ years
of financial management and accounting experience. Experience with
Oracle ERP (e.g., Oracle Financials, Oracle Cloud ERP)
and/or
Hyperion Planning
for financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. Experience in
digital media, publishing, or related industries
preferred. Proven ability to
lead remote teams
and collaborate across multiple business units. Passion for
streamlining processes and driving financial efficiencies . Exceptional
interpersonal, communication, and technical skills
to foster cross-functional relationships.
