IT Technical Architect – SAP RTR Location:
Onsite in Waukegan, IL Period:
03/31/2025 to 03/31/2026 Hours/Week:
40 hours – Hours over 40 will be paid at time and a half Rate:
$85 – $100/hour Contract Type:

The IT Technical Architect will provide expert-level technical direction and leadership in the development, support, and optimization of SAP FICO (Finance and Controlling) modules, with specific focus on General Ledger (GL), Banking, Product Costing, Material Ledger, COPA, Treasury, and FSCM. The role involves working with internal teams and external vendors to integrate SAP solutions with other business systems, particularly in banking and external reporting domains. The architect will ensure that SAP systems align with business requirements, providing technical configuration, code reviews, testing, user training, and support. Role, Responsibilities, and Deliverables
Solution Design and Configuration: Lead the design, configuration, and implementation of SAP FICO (GL, Banking, Product Costing, Material Ledger, COPA), Treasury, and FSCM processes. System Integration: Oversee SAP FI integration with other modules like SD, MM, and PP to ensure seamless communication across business functions. Process Optimization: Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring SAP processes are optimized for efficient and accurate financial reporting. Requirements Gathering and Workshops: Lead workshops for requirements gathering, project scoping, and estimates, collaborating with both business and offshore teams. EDI Integrations: Oversee and manage EDI integrations with banks and other external reporting systems to streamline financial transactions and reporting. Testing and Validation: Review and perform system configuration/code reviews, conduct solution testing, and validate configurations for optimal performance. Training and Hypercare Support: Provide user training on new configurations and changes, and manage the hypercare phase to ensure smooth post-implementation transitions. Documentation and Reporting: Ensure project documentation is complete and compliant, including change requests, testing documentation, and system validation reports. Technical Guidance: Act as a technical advisor to business and IT teams, advising on new technologies and their impact on business processes. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with cross-functional teams, service providers, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful project delivery. Experience & Skills
Experience: 10-13 years in SAP FICO, Treasury, and Banking processes, ideally in regulated industries like healthcare. System Expertise: Deep knowledge and hands-on experience in SAP FICO modules including GL, Banking, Product Costing, Material Ledger, COPA, Treasury, and FSCM. Integration Knowledge: Strong understanding of SAP FI integration with other SAP modules (SD, MM, PP) and external systems (EDI with banks, reporting systems). Process Knowledge: Extensive understanding of month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, and reconciliation. Problem-Solving: Proven experience in root cause analysis and resolving complex issues across business and IT teams. Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written skills, capable of translating technical concepts for senior leaders and stakeholders. Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and external vendors. Project Management: Skilled in leading large, complex projects, focusing on meeting business needs, timelines, and budgets. Education & Certifications
Education: Degree in IT or a related business field. Certifications: SAP FICO certification; additional project management or financial systems certifications are a plus.
