PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION
The Highland Kids + Students + Families Department seeks to advance and support the vision through proclaiming the Gospel, equipping and resourcing families for life and godliness, and discipling the next generation of believers to be Christ followers.
The 5th and 6th Grade Ministry Director will oversee and lead a dynamic and impactful ministry for preteens in 5th and 6th grade. This role requires an outgoing, passionate, organized, and visionary individual who is committed to fostering spiritual growth, biblical understanding, and personal development in children during this pivotal stage of their faith journey. The director will develop programs, relational discipleship pathways, recruit, train, and shepherd volunteers, build and deepen relationships with children and their families, and ensure the overall success of the ministry.

By achieving these desired results, the 5th and 6th Grade Ministry Director will contribute to the overall mission of the church, fostering the spiritual growth of children and supporting the church's vision to engage families and make disciples.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Ministry Planning & Program Development:
Plan, design, and implement age-appropriate, Bible-centered curriculum for 5th and 6th graders that encourages spiritual growth and personal development. Organize and lead weekly services, events, and activities tailored to preteens. Develop and lead seasonal events, such as camps, retreats, and mission projects. Ensure programs align with the overall vision, mission, and values of the church. Volunteer Management & Leadership:
Recruit, train, and provide ongoing support for volunteer leaders and assistants. Foster a team environment by encouraging collaboration and open communication among volunteers. Ensure that all volunteers adhere to the church's child protection policies and guidelines. Relationship Building:
Build strong relationships with children, providing mentorship, encouragement, and support for their spiritual journeys. Develop relationships with parents and guardians, keeping them informed and involved in the ministry. Be a positive and approachable role model for children and families within the church community. Communication & Collaboration:
Work closely with the Children's Ministry team to ensure smooth transitions and cohesive programming across all grade levels. Regularly communicate with parents through newsletters, emails, and social media. Collaborate with church staff and leadership to support the overall ministry goals of the church. Administration & Reporting:
Oversee the scheduling of events, ensuring proper planning and coordination. Manage the budget for the ministry, ensuring effective use of resources. Track attendance, volunteer participation, and other key metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of programs. Provide regular reports and feedback to senior leadership about ministry progress and needs. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The 5th and 6th Grade Ministry Director will oversee the Associate Director's role in the following areas:
Program Oversight: Guide the Associate Director in planning, executing, and evaluating ministry programs, ensuring they align with the church's mission.
Volunteer Leadership: Supervise the Associate Director's recruitment, training, and support of volunteers, fostering a culture of teamwork and servant leadership.
Administrative Support: Assist the Associate Director in managing ministry logistics, including scheduling, event planning, and tracking ministry goals, budgets, and performance.
Professional Development: Provide coaching, feedback, and growth opportunities to support the Associate Director's development and leadership skills.
Collaboration & Communication: Ensure the Associate Director collaborates effectively with the children's ministry team, parents, volunteers, and church leadership.
Evaluation & Accountability: Conduct regular performance reviews, setting expectations and identifying areas for growth to ensure the ministry's success.
This partnership will help the Associate Director grow in their role while supporting a thriving, impactful 5th and 6th grade ministry.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILL REQUIREMENTS • Education: A bachelor's degree in education, theology, child development, or related field is preferred but not required. • Experience: 3 years of experience in Children's or Student Ministry or related field • Skills:
Microsoft office, financial management software, database management. Passion for 5th and 6th grade ministry and a calling to invest in the lives of children. Strong leadership, communication, and relational skills. Ability to recruit, train, and develop volunteers effectively. Team-oriented with a heart for collaboration and unity.
