Base pay range:
$25.00/yr - $25.00/yr
Job Description The Phlebotomist performs venipuncture procedures for clinical or medical testing and transfusions. They procure blood samples from patients, label them accurately, and ensure specimen integrity for proper processing and transport. They review lab requisitions, perform quality reviews, and troubleshoot as needed. They manage supplies and inventory, handle clerical duties such as data entry, record keeping, and communication, and provide empathetic customer service.
Responsibilities
Identify patients, perform venipuncture following procedures, and handle specimens correctly to ensure timely delivery to the lab.
Participate in departmental process improvements and adhere to turnaround times and regulatory standards.
Show empathy and professionalism with patients, families, and staff, respecting cultural and individual differences.
Manage calls, document issues, handle supplies, and deliver specimens and reports in a timely manner.
Qualifications Required:
California Certified Phlebotomy Technician
Effective communication skills in English
Customer service skills
Hospital Fire and Life Safety Card (Los Angeles City Employees only)
Preferred:
Experience with lab/hospital computer systems
Clinical lab work experience
Bilingual skills
