Research Scientist II - Ghobrial Lab

We are seeking an experienced scientist, preferably with a background in hematology and/or oncology, to collaborate closely with the PI and Sr. VP of Experimental Medicine, Dr. Ghobrial, and research leadership. The role involves driving scientific wet lab discovery within the Ghobrial Lab, which comprises a team of about two dozen members, including wet lab and computational researchers, instructors, post-doctoral fellows, graduate students, and research technicians. The focus is on translational research in early detection, risk stratification, and interception of blood cancer precursor conditions, emphasizing biomarker research and mechanisms of progression. The candidate will be integral to large-scale, multi-institutional projects and will contribute to strategic planning, operational management, and project execution of the lab's research efforts. Responsibilities include managing large projects, developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships, mentoring team members, and ensuring project milestones, timelines, and budgets are met. The role also involves developing novel biomarkers, leveraging advanced laboratory methods, and collaborating with pathologists and computational biologists. Qualifications include a PhD or MD in biology, chemistry, biomedical sciences, or related fields, with demonstrated wet lab skills in next-generation sequencing, proteomics, spatial proteomics/transcriptomics, single-cell genomics, and in vivo work. Experience in project management, strong organizational and communication skills, leadership qualities, and the ability to work independently and in a team are essential.
