The Shop | Design Shop Interiors (DSI) is looking for an experienced Shop Stylist / Merchandiser to join our growing team.

The Shop is a fun, collaborative and fast-paced brick-and-mortar home décor store that has become Sacramento’s premier destination for all things home. From custom upholstery to vintage treasures, home furnishings, lighting, textiles, and more, we’ve curated a one-of-a-kind home shopping experience.

You will play a crucial role in creating an inviting and visually appealing shopping environment for our customers. Working under the creative direction of our owner, you will be responsible for visual merchandising, arranging and presenting our home decor products in a beautiful, creative and shoppable manner, ensuring the DSI brand’s visual standards are consistently met. Your keen eye for design, attention to detail, and passion for home decor will contribute to a memorable shopping experience for our customers. The Shop displays and merchandising are highly creative, artistic and well designed. This role requires some serious design talent – this is not just a ‘keep the shelves stocked’ role. The role is considered part of our design team and requires experience and vision.

Our Shop Stylist also leads our in-home styling program. You will be responsible for working directly with clients to design, style and execute projects in their homes using our curated Shop inventory.

Job Requirements:

• Incredible interior design talent and a great eye for beautiful things.
• Strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
• You must be a collaborative team player who can take direction and feedback.
• Previous interior design experience (2+ years) specific to styling.
• Precision-oriented attention to detail and exemplary organizational skills.
• Working knowledge of merchandising and high-end home furnishings.
• Proficiency in Mac, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and relevant tools.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
• Self-starter with the ability to manage tasks independently, multitask, and resolve issues efficiently.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Job Responsibilities:

• Design all visual displays, vignettes and furniture sets in The Shop under the creative direction of our owner, Leyla Jaworski.
• Cultivate a warm, inviting environment and customer experience in the Shop through thoughtfully curated displays and merchandising.
• Coordinate with our owner, inventory manager, floral designer and warehouse to ensure visual merchandising is planned and executed.
• Assist management with daily operations of The Shop focused on inventory and merchandising.
• Develop a deep rich knowledge of our product catalog; there’s a lot to know and learn! You will be expected to become an expert in our line of products.
• Lead our ‘In-Home Styling’ program. Work hand-in-hand with customers on product selection and customization resulting in the highest level of client satisfaction and sales.
• Assist customers with sourcing specific items from our product catalog.

The ideal candidate will be / have:

• Have an understanding of the DSI brand, look and aesthetic, and be able to integrate effortlessly with the distinctive style and aesthetic that defines our brand.
• Possess a deep love for all things home and design (borderline obsession is helpful).
• Demonstrated experience in high-end home furnishings retail sales and expert merchandising.
• Exceptional styling skills with a strong ability to create visually impactful product displays.
• Positive attitude and professional, friendly demeanor – carry yourself with confidence.
• Motivated self-starter, with a professional attitude and go-getter approach.
• Excellent communication skills and confidence to communicate your design ideas.
• A sense of humor—you’ll need it with this group!

Bonus Points:

• If you know Shopify, Ivy or Chief Architect.
• Have retail sales experience.
