Position Overview: The
Learning Experience Designer
at Pref-Tech will be responsible for the design, development, and delivery of engaging, effective, and scalable learning experiences for Security Integration professionals. This role is central to shaping and implementing curriculum across various delivery formats, including instructor-led training, videos, eLearning, and micro-learning modules. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with subject matter experts and stakeholders to design learner-centered content that supports practical and measurable learning outcomes. In addition to curriculum development, the Learning Experience Designer will assist with managing and administering the Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring seamless learner access, tracking, and reporting. A strong understanding of competency-based education and the ability to track and record learner competencies within the LMS is essential. This role requires a blend of instructional design expertise, technological fluency, and a passion for improving learning outcomes through thoughtful and creative learning solutions. This includes, but is not limited to the following functions:
Design and develop comprehensive
scalable technical training programs tailored to employees at all skill levels—from apprentices to experienced technicians, that is
tailored to the needs of our Employees and customers. Design and develop creative, engaging, learner-centered curriculum for a variety of delivery methods including instructor-led training (ILT), eLearning, and print-based materials. Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to identify learning objectives and translate complex content into effective instructional materials. Create content that addresses the training needs of a variety of disciplines, including sales, HR, professional development, leadership, designing and estimating, etc. Create facilitator guides, participant manuals, job aids, PowerPoints, videos, and eLearning modules. Develop original content, as well as customizing off the shelf material to suit Pref-Tech needs. Create and maintain high-quality training resources, including lesson plans, presentations, technical reference guides, standard operating procedures (SOPs), hands-on lab exercises, and scenario-based simulations that reflect real-world jobsite challenges. Work with SMEs to develop competencies for positions. Develop interactive, multimedia-rich eLearning using tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise, Adobe Captivate, or similar. Assist with managing and administering the Learning Management System (LMS), including course uploads, user enrollment, training and competency tracking, and reporting. Implement and maintain systems to track learner progress and competency attainment within the LMS. Apply instructional design best practices and adult learning theories to ensure the effectiveness and accessibility of learning content. Review and revise existing training materials for accuracy, clarity, and alignment with learning objectives and organizational goals. Evaluate the effectiveness of learning solutions through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics. Stay up-to-date on emerging trends in learning technology, instructional design, and adult education. Create measurable competency evaluations of students using practical simulations of equipment and real-world scenarios. Understand how AI can be leveraged to assist in learning experience development. Work closely with internal Trainers to create and adjust training as needed. Desired Qualifications and Experience Required: Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Learning Technology, or a related field. 7-9 years of experience in instructional design, curriculum development, or learning experience design. Proven experience designing and developing training content in various formats (e.g., eLearning, instructor-led training, video, micro learning, and print-based materials). Graphic design experience with tools like Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign. etc. Experience with video editing software. Strong proficiency with eLearning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Rise, or similar). Experience with SCORM/xAPI and LMS reporting tools. Experience administering and managing a Learning Management System (LMS). Experience in developing assessments tied to competencies and performance metrics. Working knowledge of competency frameworks and methods for tracking and reporting learner progress and skill attainment. Familiarity with adult learning principles and best practices in instructional design. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines. Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills. Our office hours are from Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some events may fall outside of these days/hours.
