Accounting Manager

Position Overview

Bird Dog Talent Solutions is supporting a client in the search for an Accounting Manager to lead their accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with GAAP, and streamlined month-end close processes. This role requires strong leadership skills, keen attention to detail, and expertise in accounting best practices. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem solver with a passion for process improvement and team development.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting functions, including accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), general ledger (GL), payroll, and bank reconciliations.
• Manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and internal control policies.
• Collaborate with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions to facilitate audits and financial reviews.
• Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Mentor, train, and support a small accounting team to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence.
• To optimize financial operations, identify and implement process improvements, including automation opportunities.
• Support additional financial projects and ad hoc reporting as needed.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
• CPA or CMA certification is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Background in fintech, SaaS, or a tech-driven environment is a strong advantage.
• Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to mentor and develop team members.
