Position Summary
The Executive Director is a strategic and highly visible leader responsible for the overall management, growth, and strategic direction of the Brookhaven Chamber of Commerce. This unique part-time role requires an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for community development. The ED will work closely with an engaged Board of Directors to revitalize operations, significantly increase Chamber revenue and membership, and build a strong, recognizable brand for the Chamber within Brookhaven.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Planning (Primary Focus): Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan for the Chamber's sustainability, growth, and enhanced community impact over the next 12-24 months. Review and optimize existing organizational operations, staffing, and structure to ensure maximum efficiency and effectiveness within the given hours. Organize and empower the Board of Directors into effective subgroups with clear monthly goals and accountability. Revenue Growth & Financial Management: Lead and execute aggressive fundraising and sponsorship initiatives to significantly increase Chamber revenue, including securing grants and cultivating corporate relations. Manage the Chamber's financial health with a hands-on approach to cash flow management, budgeting, and ensuring fiscal integrity and transparency to the Board. Develop and articulate compelling "value propositions" to attract new sponsors and members. Membership Engagement & Growth: Drive an increase in membership and retention rates through targeted recruitment strategies and enhanced member benefits. Oversee the development and execution of engaging programs, resources, and events that provide tangible value to members. Motivate and activate Chamber members to actively participate in public, private, and local government activities. Brand Development & Community Relations: Develop and implement a strong brand identity and marketing strategy for the Chamber, utilizing innovative platforms to increase visibility and community recognition. Serve as the primary public face and spokesperson for the Chamber, building and nurturing strong relationships with local businesses, community leaders, city officials, and residents. Actively participate in Chamber events, including ribbon cuttings, networking functions, featured luncheons, and Board meetings. Board Relations & Governance: Work collaboratively with and report directly to the Board Chair/Executive Committee, ensuring consistent communication and transparency on all Chamber issues. Facilitate constructive dialogue and shared vision between the Board and the Chamber's operational activities.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Non-Profit Management, Public Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related field preferred. Comparable professional training and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree for exceptional candidates. Proven leadership experience in non-profit management, business development, community relations, or a related field. Demonstrated success in strategic planning development and implementation. Strong track record in fundraising, grant writing, corporate sponsorships, and financial management. Exceptional communication skills (written, verbal, public speaking) with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders. A collaborative and engaging leadership style, capable of fostering strong partnerships with the Board, members, and community. Ability to be highly effective and productive within a part-time schedule, prioritizing high-impact activities. Proficiency in leveraging marketing and digital tools for organizational growth and outreach. An entrepreneurial spirit with a proactive approach to problem-solving and innovation. Political savvy and an understanding of local government dynamics.
Compensation & Benefits
Annual compensation of $48,000 - $52,000. This is a 1099 independent contractor position; the Executive Director will be responsible for their own benefits (health insurance, retirement, etc.). Potential for performance-based bonus structure based on agreed-upon KPIs. Opportunity to make a significant and visible impact on the economic vitality of Brookhaven, Ga. Flexible work schedule (approximately 12-16 hours per week), designed for work-life integration.
