Position Summary:
Virtus Healthcare Staffing is seeking a skilled and dedicated
Mammography Technologist
to join our partner medical facility in
Fortuna, CA . Working under the direction of the Radiologist and Lead Breast Center Nurse, the Mammography Technologist will perform a full range of mammographic procedures, applying ionizing radiation for radiographic diagnosis with a latitude for independent judgment. This role is crucial for producing and evaluating high-quality images used by physicians for medical diagnosis, while ensuring strict compliance with Federal MQSA, State, and Joint Commission standards. The technologist will also perform related clerical tasks and take responsibility for coordinating exams.

Role Focus:
Performing screening and diagnostic mammography, image evaluation, patient care, and ensuring regulatory compliance (MQSA, State, Joint Commission). Collaboration:
Works closely with Radiologists, the Lead Breast Center Nurse, and other healthcare professionals. Schedule:
Full-Time, Day shift (Specific hours to be confirmed during screening process). Experience:
1+ year of experience in Mammography preferred. Credentials:
ARRT(R)(M), California CRT with Mammography certification (California Mammographic Radiologic Technology Certificate), and BLS required upon hire. Key Responsibilities:
Perform high-quality screening and diagnostic mammography examinations according to established protocols, physician orders, and industry best practices. ccurately position patients for mammographic views, ensuring patient comfort, safety, and optimal image acquisition. Operate digital mammography equipment, select appropriate technical factors, and critically evaluate images for diagnostic quality, proper labeling, and adherence to standards before submission for interpretation. Provide clear and empathetic explanations of procedures to patients, addressing any questions or concerns and obtaining necessary patient history. Strictly adhere to all Federal MQSA (Mammography Quality Standards Act) regulations, California state requirements, and Joint Commission standards related to mammography practice, quality control, and patient safety. Perform and document required quality control tests on mammography equipment. Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, procedural logs, and other required documentation using the facility's EMR/RIS/PACS systems. ssist with coordinating patient exam schedules and perform related clerical tasks as needed. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment within the mammography suite. Follow all radiation safety protocols (ALARA principles) and infection control guidelines. Collaborate effectively with the breast imaging team, including radiologists and nursing staff, to ensure efficient workflow and optimal patient outcomes. Required Qualifications:
Education sufficient to meet certification, license, or registration requirements (typically graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology program). Current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography

Minimum of one (1) year of dedicated clinical experience working as a Mammography Technologist. Demonstrated experience with and thorough understanding of MQSA standards and compliance requirements. Experience with Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (3D Mammography). Familiarity with common mammography equipment brands and PACS/RIS systems.
