Responsibilities
The Design Specialist plays a key role in supporting the Division of Student Affairs Marketing and Communications team by executing email marketing campaigns and producing brand-aligned visual content across digital channels. With a primary focus on Salesforce Marketing Cloud, this position helps ensure effective communication with student audiences while upholding Florida State University's brand standards and communication goals. The Design Specialist works closely with the Senior Designer and Creative Director to produce visually engaging, accessible content that enhances student engagement and promotes key programs and services.
Build, design and schedule email campaigns using Salesforce Marketing Cloud in support of departmental initiatives and divisional messaging. Maintain subscriber lists, apply audience segmentation, and incorporate dynamic content to improve personalization and engagement. Ensure all email content meets accessibility standards and is optimized for mobile and desktop viewing. Collaborate with writers and project leads to align email content with campaign goals and division-wide priorities. Track and analyze campaign metrics (open rate, click-through rate, etc.) and provide reports to stakeholders with data-driven recommendations.
Design digital assets including social media graphics, web banners, digital signage, and email visuals to support marketing campaigns and student-focused communications. Support the visual consistency of digital campaigns by applying established brand guidelines and adapting styles to fit platform and audience needs. Assist with templated print and promotional materials as needed.
Coordinate with the Creative Director, Senior Designer, and campus partners to execute projects on time and on brand. Participate in team planning meetings, design reviews and feedback sessions. Maintain organized files, shared templates, and visual assets for team use.
Stay current with trends in email marketing, digital design, accessibility, and platform capabilities. Support the upkeep of email templates, digital asset libraries and internal documentation related to Salesforce Marketing Cloud workflows. Track design projects using Smartsheet to ensure timely delivery, efficient revisions, and clear communication.
Perform administrative functions to support multimedia design work. Maintain project files and project tracking in an efficient and timely manner.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma/equivalent and six years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.)

The Marketing & Communications Office serves departments within the Division as well as provides support for projects of the Vice President for Student Affairs.

Anticipated Salary Range
The anticipated starting salary for this position is in the low to mid $40,000's, commensurate with experience and education.
