REQUIREMENTS:
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 174 Days (Summer School Hours Available as well)
START DATE: ASAP
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIRED SKILLS
- Illinois CDL License with passenger endorsement. Assistance and training is provided for eligible applicants.
- Physical examination with drug and alcohol testing.
- Criminal background check and fingerprinting.
- Complete eight (8) hour course required by State of Illinois.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Report on time and begin route or trip when scheduled.
- Operate a vehicle in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations and McHenry Transportation Department procedure.
- Provide safe transportation to and from school for all children.
- Responsible for passenger management and timely reporting of incidents, accidents and student conduct reports.
- Maintain accurate and timely recordkeeping.
- Identify transportation hazards and promptly report.
- Comply with established schedules, observes traffic ordinances, and be constantly aware of the safety needs of students.
- Maintains and demonstrates a helpful, positive and pleasant attitude toward fellow co-workers, other school district employees and the general public.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with school personnel, students, parents and the general public.
- Demonstrate proficiency in handling and maneuvering school bus.
- Drive all vehicles and routes as determined by the transportation director or designee.
- $19.20/hour; minimum 5 hours a day guaranteed. Additional compensation provided for prior bus driver experience on the salary schedule according to MSTA collectively bargained agreement.
