The Sack Company, is looking for a Mechanical Estimator. Our company has been in business for 75 years providing Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Millwright/Rigging expertise to clients throughout Georgia and South Carolina.

Mechanical Estimator (HVAC & Sheet-Metal)
Position Overview:
The Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for sheet metal and HVAC projects in commercial and industrial settings. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills and a comprehensive understanding of mechanical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for sheet metal and HVAC projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to understand the scope of work and develop comprehensive estimates.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure estimates align with project requirements and objectives.
Obtain and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and compliance with project specifications.
Maintain and update a database of historical cost data and industry pricing trends to support accurate estimating.
Review and assess potential risks and opportunities associated with project estimates and provide recommendations for mitigation.
Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations as needed.
Prepare and present detailed estimate reports and bid proposals to clients and management.
Stay current with industry developments, codes, and regulations to ensure estimates reflect the latest standards and practices.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in mechanical estimating, specifically in sheet metal and HVAC systems within commercial and industrial construction.
Proven track record of preparing accurate and competitive estimates for mechanical projects.
Strong knowledge of HVAC and sheet metal systems, installation practices, and industry standards.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Proficiency in estimating software and tools (e.g., Trimble, Bluebeam, AutoBid).
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) designation is a plus.Job Overview:
We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Estimator with extensive experience in estimating mechanical systems for commercial and light industrial projects. This role requires expertise in condenser water, chilled water, hot water, sheet metal, and refrigerant (VRF) systems. The Senior Estimator will lead the pre-construction efforts, ensuring accurate and competitive mechanical estimates to support successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
· Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for piping, ductwork, and equipment.
· Develop precise cost estimates for mechanical systems, including labor, materials, and subcontractor pricing.
· Lead the review of mechanical drawings, specifications, and contracts to identify scope and risks.
· Provide value engineering recommendations to optimize project costs.
· Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure accurate pricing and scope coverage.
· Identify long-lead items and assist in procurement planning.
· Prepare and present detailed estimate reports to executives, general contractors, and clients.
· Stay updated on industry pricing trends, labor costs, and best practices.
· Train and mentor junior estimators to develop internal talent.

Qualifications:· 5+ years of mechanical estimating experience in commercial/industrial projects.· Strong knowledge of condenser water, chilled water, hot water, sheet metal takeoff, and VRF systems.· Proficiency in estimating software (QuickPen, Trimble, or similar). Experience with Trimble Autobid Mechanical and/or Sheetmetal is .· Ability to interpret complex mechanical drawings and specifications.· Experience with soliciting and evaluating vendor/subcontractor pricing.· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.· Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
