About Descartes Learning Club:
Descartes Learning Club Corporation is a boutique provider of high-quality, in-person math enrichment programs for K–8 students. We offer classes in San Francisco, Pacifica, Daly City, Hayward, Menlo Park, Palo Alto, and Portola Valley for the 2025–2026 school year.
Our mission is to provide world-class math education that inspires students to think critically, solve problems creatively, and love learning. Through small-group instruction (1–6 students), customized curriculum, and expert educators, our math classes foster both academic excellence and meaningful student engagement.

Key Responsibilities for the Math Instructor / Teacher Role:
Teach small-group K–8 math classes using company-provided curriculum and instructional strategies that focus on developing mathematical minds and abstract thinking skills
Mentor students to think logically, ask questions, and love mathematics
Preferred Qualifications for Math Instructor / Teacher Candidates:
Strong foundation in mathematics; a bachelor’s degree in math, science, engineering or a related field is preferred
Mature and talented undergraduate math majors with tutoring or competition backgrounds are welcome to apply
Prior experience teaching or tutoring elementary or middle school students is required
Familiarity with math enrichment programs or math competitions is a strong plus
Passion for helping students build both academic skills and confidence
You will teach at school campuses or our own centers to small classes of 1-6 students for 1-2.5 hours for each weekday) between 3-6pm on weekdays, or between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekends (weekends only in SF). We are flexible and can adapt to your weekly availability. Weekday afternoons: 3:30–5:00 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:30-5:30pm on Fridays.
Weekend sessions available based on instructor availability and student enrollment. We only offer weekend lessons in San Francisco right now.
