A leading organization in the
engine technology and power generation
industry is seeking a Metallurgical Engineer to join their team. Essential Functions for a Metallurgical Engineer: Generating and innovating ideas to enhance engine performance. Collaborating with external specialists in specific areas such as gears and seals. Managing the metallurgy lab, including equipment like heat treat ovens, hardness testers, microscopes, and wear test machines. Providing guidance to development engineers on material selection and simulation. Acting as the primary technical contact for raw material suppliers. Supporting engine testing through inspection, analysis, and reporting of post-test engine hardware. Creating and adhering to standardized procedures for material selection and processing. Presenting ideas, findings, and results to management and engineering teams. Maintaining a positive, proactive, and solution-oriented attitude during challenging R&D projects. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for Metallurgical Engineer: Advanced knowledge of metallurgical testing, metallurgical index derivation, plant balance, and sample preparation techniques. Expertise in chemical and laboratory best practices and procedures. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Proficient in reading, analyzing, and interpreting scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Strong communication skills, with the ability to respond to inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, and business community members. Ability to write effectively for publication and present information to management and public groups. Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage various technical variables. Advanced laboratory knowledge and basic mechanical and equipment understanding. Education and Experience: MS or higher in Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field. 4+ years of professional experience in materials engineering, specifically in engine component design and maintenance. Strong expertise with lightweight alloys, tribology, material durability, coatings, and manufacturing processes.
