We have an exciting opportunity for a Vice President of Engineering. The location is Little Rock, AR, but we will consider applicants residing in AR or ME. POSITION SUMMARY The Vice President and Chief Engineer for Summit Utilities, Inc. (SUI) leads strategic planning, management, and execution of engineering programs. This role ensures safety, reliability, and efficiency across all engineering activities, focusing on design, construction, and operation of natural gas utility systems. Responsibilities include developing engineering standards, system documentation, compliance, and quality assurance across all service areas. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Strategic Leadership and Engineering Oversight Oversee engineering initiatives to ensure safety and reliability standards are met in gas utility systems. Collaborate with executive team on strategic goals, fostering innovation and safety. Mentor staff and promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Set and enforce engineering standards, review technical projects, and ensure regulatory compliance. Evaluate costs and rate implications of engineering projects. Represent SUI in industry and regulatory engagements. Manage asset planning and perform hydraulic modeling analyses. Capital Budget Management Work with financial leaders on capital investment plans for growth and system improvements. Asset Data and Technology Integration Lead development and deployment of asset data and field applications. Oversee system enhancements for operational efficiency and safety. Engineering Codes, Standards, and Compliance Develop and enforce company-wide engineering standards. Engage with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance. Measurement Support measurement operations and compliance initiatives. Promote continuous improvement in measurement practices. EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE B.S. in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university. Advanced degree in Engineering or Management preferred. At least 15 years in natural gas transmission/distribution, with 5+ years in leadership roles. Registered Professional Engineer in Colorado, Maine, Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, or Texas. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES Expertise in natural gas utility engineering principles. Experience developing and enforcing codes and standards, familiar with industry regulations. Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent technical writing abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
