This position is typically the first point of contact for our company with the public. You will interact on the telephone and in person with client families and must be courteous, professional, and helpful. You will provide administrative support to families, funeral directors, managers, and co-workers.
Responsibilities include:
- Demonstrate trust, compassion, and empathy in all aspects of the role.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating professionally with families, co-workers, and management.
- Serve as the first point of contact: answer phones, greet families, and ensure their comfort.
- Ensure the funeral home is 'family ready' at all times; maintain cleanliness of various areas within the funeral home.
- Act as a conduit of information in and out of the funeral home.
- Manage office supplies and administrative tasks related to death documentation, insurance, social security, military, and death certificates.
- Support funeral directors and managers with memorial packages, including creating and printing memorial books, acknowledgment cards, folders, stationery, bulletins, and tribute videos.
- Stay current with all company-provided technology to enhance efficiency.
- Potentially schedule support staff for services and serve as a liaison between staff and funeral directors.
- Assist with daytime funeral and memorial services, including setup and logistics.
This role does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Minimum qualifications include:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Two (2) years of administrative support experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with grieving families, colleagues, and stakeholders
- Ability to collaborate, work independently, and contribute to team objectives
- Effective communication with personnel at all levels
