Moorpark College Athletics is seeking a dynamic and inclusive Athletic Director to lead our Athletic Department with 17 collegiate sports serving approximately 400 diverse student athletes. The Athletic Director collaborates with four full time faculty coaches, nine part time faculty head coaches, 21 part time faculty assistant coaches, two full time faculty athletic counselors, and five full time classified professionals who specialize in athletic training, equipment management, and administrative support. There is currently one full-time, tenure track position at Moorpark College to serve as the college's Initial Focus: Athletic Director. This eleven-month assignment will start July 1, 2025. Moorpark College, one of three colleges in the Ventura County Community College District, was founded in 1967. It serves approximately 15,000 students, and with a "students first" philosophy, empowers its diverse community of learners to complete their goals for academic transfer, basic skills, and career education. Moorpark College is one of the most beautiful community colleges in California. Set on 150 acres, the campus is nestled in the foothills on the southeastern flank of Ventura County, about 40 miles from UCLA, and approximately 75 miles from UC Santa Barbara. It is also a short drive from CSU Northridge, CSU Channel Islands, and California Lutheran University. Moorpark College has been recognized as an Aspen 150 College for the last two years. Known for transfer of students to public and private universities, Moorpark College has the highest number of Associate Degree for Transfers among California community colleges its size. Initial Focus: Athletic Director Duties:
Plan, organize, direct, and assess the activities, services, and operations of a comprehensive athletic program in keeping with high standards for performance and ethics; allocate personnel and resources to optimize department efficiency and effectiveness. In collaboration with the Dean of Student Learning, set annual goals to ensure athletic programs are consistent with institutional priorities; maintain communication with other departments to promote the integration of athletics into the broader educational mission of the college and District. Ensure compliance with college, District, conference, local, state, and federal guidelines as they relate to the Moorpark College Athletic Department, including but not limited to the areas of student/athletes eligibility requirements and gender equity compliance. Disseminate information on and implement rules and guidelines for specific sports; compile, interpret and disseminate information pertaining to NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA transfer requirements. Develop and oversee an academic success program for student athletes; monitor student matriculation and graduation. In collaboration with the Counseling Department, ensure optimal counseling and academic planning for student athletes. Coordinate awards programs to recognize the achievements of student athletes. Train, schedule, supervise, and assist in evaluating the work performance of assigned personnel, including head and assistant coaches and staff for all intercollegiate sports. Expand and improve program development through seminars, workshops, and clinics. Provide game management, risk management, and supervision for all Moorpark College intercollegiate home athletic contests; schedule athletic events and secure officials, transportation and personnel necessary for program implementation; work with appropriate personnel to ensure the proper scheduling, maintenance, and use of all athletic facilities. In collaboration with the Dean of Student Learning, develop and monitor program budget. Coordinate athletic fundraising marketing and public relations in compliance with CCCAA (California Community College Athletic Association) and the VCCCD policies. Provide leadership in community and secondary school outreach for program building. Represent the Moorpark College Athletic Department and establish a strong positive presence at the local, regional, state, and national level as an active member and participant in the CCCAA, the Western State Conference, the Southern California Football Association, the Southern California Wrestling Association, the State Community College Organization of Physical Educators, and California Community College Athletic Directors Association. Participate in departmental and college activities that facilitate student learning. Complete related duties associated with full-time faculty employment, such as participation in college governance through committee assignments. Participate as an active member in college-wide and district committees. Perform other duties as assigned. Instructor Duties:
Provide academic instruction to students through lecture, lab, or performance courses; assess and develop cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher order thinking skills among students through appropriate assignments and activities in one-on-one, classroom, and distance mediated instructional settings. Advise and instruct students regarding programs of study, other institutions of higher education, lifelong learning resources, and effective study skills; refer students to support services, programs, resources, and other professionals as appropriate. Observe and evaluate student performance in meeting course objectives and student learning outcomes through assignments, projects, discussions, and examinations; provide feedback in a timely manner to student inquiries in class, online, or during established consultation office hours. Plan and organize instruction according to approved course outlines and student learning outcomes to maximize student learning in alignment with department, college, and district goals; implement the student performance objectives as listed on the official course outline of record. Maintain current, accurate records of course enrollment, attendance, student academic progress, course curriculum, and student learning outcomes; prepare and submit data and reports related to course and student progress in a timely manner. Evaluate and select instructional materials such as textbooks, manuals, software, and tools in collaboration, as appropriate, with discipline faculty; order instructional materials according to campus bookstore procedure to ensure timely delivery. Participate in curriculum and program development; update syllabi; collaborate with discipline faculty on a regular basis to assess and revise measurable student performance indicators for each course; may provide input into the development of student learning outcomes. Revise and update course content and materials of instruction in accordance with new theory, application, and industry developments within the discipline or area of specialization. Attend and participate on committees and in department, division, campus, and district meetings; may participate in articulation and matriculation related activities. May provide work direction to others. Perform related duties as assigned. E

. Master’s in physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise or adaptive physical education
OR
Bachelor’s in any of the above
AND
Master’s in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration or physical therapy
OR
the equivalent*; OR
possession of an appropriate California Community College Credential. Preferred Qualifications:
Successful experience as an Athletic Director at a high school, community college or four year college/university; or successful athletics experience at a community college or four year college/university (e.g. athletic training, athletic counseling, and/or coaching) Knowledge of 3C2A Constitution and Bylaws Experience with game and event management for athletic events Knowledge of policies and procedures for community college athletic programs Experience in supporting student athlete eligibility and student academic success Experience in cultivating a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible athletic community that supports student athletes *EQUIVALENCY The Ventura County Community College District, in its desire to select outstanding faculty members from the largest possible pool of qualified applicants, recognizes the fact that candidates may attain expertise in a discipline through a variety of means.
