Overview
The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston, South Carolina, seeks an accomplished academic leader to serve as its Chief of Advanced Endoscopy. MUSC and MUSC Health are amid an exciting period of growth. This is an outstanding opportunity to grow the section and advance its academic and research programs as part of one of the nation's top digestive disease centers in a city and community known for its enviable quality of life. The successful candidate will hold an endoscopy medical directorship.
The incoming Chief will be a part of a division whose faculty members include national and international leaders in their respective disciplines. The Division houses more than 23 faculty members, 13 fellows, and seven advanced practice providers. In 2024, MUSC Health was once again recognized for high performance in gastroenterology and GI surgery by U.S. News & World Report.
MUSC, the state's only academic health science center, consists of six colleges and educates and trains more than 3,200 students and approximately 900 residents annually. As the healthcare system of the Medical University of South Carolina, MUSC Health is dedicated to delivering the highest-quality and safest patient care while educating and training generations of outstanding healthcare providers and leaders to serve the people of South Carolina and beyond. Patient care is provided at 16 hospitals (including owned and affiliated), with approximately 2,700 beds and four additional hospital locations in development; more than 350 telehealth sites providing connectivity to patients' homes; and nearly 750 care locations situated in all regions of South Carolina. In 2024, for the tenth consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report named MUSC Health in Charleston the No. 1 hospital in South Carolina.
Applicants must hold an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree, be board certified in Gastroenterology and/or Hepatology with a 4th year fellowship in Advanced Endoscopy and possess outstanding leadership skills and administrative experience with a demonstrated commitment to clinical care, research, and education.
