Key Responsibilities:
Lay building materials, such as brick, concrete block, stone, glass block, and terra-cotta block, to the highest quality for construction of walls and other structures.
Construct corners by fastening in plumb position a corner pole or building a corner pyramid of bricks, and filling in between the corners using a line from corner to corner to guide each course of brick, block, stone, etc.
Measure distance from reference points and mark guidelines to lay out work, using plumb bobs, rules, and levels.
Assist Superintendent in calculating the materials required to finish day out and or project completion.
Break or cut bricks, tiles, or blocks to size, using trowel edge, hammer, or power saw.
Remove excess mortar with trowels and hand tools, and finish mortar joints with jointing tools, for a sealed, uniform appearance.
Assist in helping laborers out, when needed, in stocking materials and or building scaffolding.
And other assigned duties, willing to help where needed, patching, clean up, etc.
Qualifications:
Ideal candidates for this position will possess a minimum of 3 years of experience, strong time management skills and able to complete a job with minimal supervision.
A high school diploma or GED are a plus.
Qualified Candidates must be agile/mobile, remain alert, be able to stand or walk for long periods of time, use fingers, hands & arms to reach, handle and manipulate objects, climb up/down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects, work on uneven surfaces/heights, be able to read/write, have the ability to see & hear well either naturally or with correction. Must be able to lift and carry materials of all shapes and sizes weighing 50 lbs., 75% of the time.
Requirements:
Individuals must be able to work in an OSHA compliant safety environment, work outside and must be able to work overtime and weekend hours. Punctuality and promptness are required every day.
Candidates must be able to pass a drug and background screen prior to starting employment.
