Position Description: The Manager, Sporting will provide operational and strategic support for the Sporting Department and the Chief Sporting Director of the NWSL. The Manager will work with all Sporting Department members and support the departments in administrative and operative tasks. The successful candidate for this highly visible and collaborative role will be inclusive, strategic, organized, and data-driven.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation of materials necessary for all stakeholder audiences across League leadership, Club sporting executives, Commissioner, Board, and league committees. Manage all of the pre-work timelines ensuring all teams and/or stakeholders provide necessary input.
- Prepare Commissioner and other senior leadership with insights and guidance that impact the league's success, credibility, and strategic priorities.
- Ensure all strategic communications are consistent, aligned, and effective.
- Work closely with the executive leadership of the Sporting Organization on their top priorities and lead ad hoc initiatives.
- Create executive briefing decks to ensure overall and sporting leadership have necessary clarity on strategy, plans, and OKRs; update monthly/quarterly with progress and status to coordinate deliverables and drive accountability.
- Create executive briefing decks to ensure all stakeholders - League, Club, Commissioner, Board, League Committees - have clarity on Sporting strategies and plans; and are kept abreast of progress, challenges, and decisions.
- Facilitate efficient decision-making by executive leadership through supporting the creation of crisp and complete communication of issues, opportunities, and alternatives.
- Manage critical departmental business operations around budget, headcount, internal and external stakeholders in meaningful partnership with Finance, HR, and other departments; ensure Sporting Organization priorities remain aligned to the League and appropriately resourced.
- Support the Chief Sporting Director in creating and managing departmental town halls, team offsites, and regular team updates as well as in managing preparation for all Sporting Committee, General Managers, Head Coaches communications and meetings.
- Manage and organize projects: Take lead on deliverables and project management.
- Manage internal and external stakeholders; act to screen and project manage important initiatives.
- Manage all communications, including emails, calls, and meetings.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business and/or related field required, MBA preferred.
- 5+ years of demonstrated operational leadership in Sports Organizations; experience in women's football leagues or clubs a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate strategy and progress in clear, crisp presentations to different audiences across different mediums.
- Excellent executive presence, able to build strong partnerships across the organization and with a wide range of different stakeholders.
- Highly organized with proven ability to manage ongoing and ad hoc initiatives on multiple timelines with grace.
- Business acumen to handle complex situations and multiple responsibilities simultaneously mixing long-term projects with the urgency of immediate demands on business operations.
- Instills trust, confidence, and credibility in process and decision-making by exhibiting consistent and methodical approaches to workflow, executing strategies to meet business goals, and displaying strong communication skills across the organization and various departments.
- Exhibit the skills to collaborate with and achieve actionable results through others, the ability to build strong and sustainable relationships, and the capability to interact within all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to increase organizational effectiveness by facilitating discussion, soliciting input from diverse perspectives, and making recommendations with a clear focus on being able to explain the reasoning.

NWSL observes a hybrid work schedule of three working days in the physical office and two remote working days. No relocation assistance will be provided.
NWSL salaries are contingent upon candidates' qualifications, functional business needs, and market financials.
Salary Range: $75,000 - $100,000.
