Lead hands-on activities like shelter-making, plant identification, and basic outdoor skills. Teach campers about local wildlife, ecosystems, and environmental conservation through interactive lessons and nature walks. Facilitate team-building challenges and problem-solving activities using natural materials and outdoor exploration within the school grounds. Memorize, follow, and enforce all safety guidelines and emergency procedures associated with the camp program. Participate in daily staff meetings. Work with the camp nurse to closely monitor camper medical conditions. Maintain the daily camp schedule. Mediate camper disputes. Report details of incidents, such as accidents or rule violations, to a head counselor. Assist instructors during various activities (e.g. arts and crafts, sports, etc.). Monitor lunch and ensure that campers with food allergies are kept safe. Clean, maintain, and ensure proper use of camp facilities and equipment. Perform minor first aid as needed. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Report all student injuries, accidents, and illnesses as soon as possible. Participate in and maintain order during periodic fire safety drills. Provide additional support as needed. Qualifications
At least 18-years-old. Availability to work all 6 weeks of the camp season. Past experience as camp counselor or in similar role working with children (preferred). CPR and First Aid certification (preferred). To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
