Description About New Horizons
Our mission is to end homelessness, one young person at a time. Since 1978, New Horizons and our community have recognized unhoused young adults as valuable members of society—full of potential, worth, and dignity. The organization was founded by community members from local churches and the downtown area, who established a drop-in center to support homeless youth facing unmet needs.
New Horizons is dedicated to making youth homelessness rare, brief, and one-time. In 2024, we helped 177 young people find stable housing and served over 500 youth aged 13-25. Operating as a central access point for support, we have evolved over nearly 50 years to include wraparound services, shelter beds, and job training, becoming a leader in youth homelessness intervention.
Our core services include Street Bean, a social enterprise coffee shop providing paid work experience, fostering relational support and real-world skills for youth seeking stability.
The Role The Executive Director (ED), reporting to the Board of Directors and working with a team of 30 staff members including five direct reports, will oversee and expand services for youth experiencing homelessness. The ED will:
Strategic Leadership and Communication:
Engage with the Board, ensure transparent communication about operations and strategy, and lead the Leadership Team with servant leadership principles.
Financial Oversight and Resource Development:
Manage budgets, ensure fiscal responsibility, and foster relationships to enhance fundraising and community engagement.
Talent Management and Organizational Culture:
Promote a positive organizational culture rooted in Christian faith and values, support staff development, and achieve program goals.
Program Administration:
Collaborate with department leaders, monitor performance, and ensure high standards and compliance across programs.
The annual salary range for this position is $130,000 – $150,000, with comprehensive benefits including paid time off, holidays, retirement plan, health insurance, and wellness programs.
Applications, including a cover letter addressed to Board Chair Jeff Van Duzer and a resume, are to be submitted to Valtas. The position remains open until filled, with initial interviews starting by late March.
New Horizons is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, encouraging applicants from all backgrounds to apply.
