Description
The Retail Accountant and Inventory Associate for the Retail Team plays a key role in supporting the financial health and strategic growth of the NICOLEHOLLIS product division. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, analytical professional with retail finance experience, who thrives in a fast-paced, design-focused environment. This role will be responsible for maintaining P&L statements, financial forecasting, demand planning, and cost analysis while ensuring accurate financial reporting and inventory management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Planning & Analysis Maintain and analyze P&L statements, ensuring accurate revenue and expense tracking Develop financial forecasts to support business decisions for the product team and retail strategy Assist in demand planning and inventory forecasting, optimizing stock levels based on sales trends Collaborate with the product and operations teams to assess cost structures, pricing strategies, and profit margins Assist in the preparation and management of budgets and financial forecasts Accounts Payable (AP)
Review vendor invoices, ensuring proper coding and allocation to product costs Manage weekly check runs and ensure on-time vendor payments Ensure accurate and timely payment processing for goods and services received Accounts Receivable (AR)
Oversee product sales revenue from Shopify e-commerce and retail locations Ensure accuracy in project numbers, names, and GL accounts before finalizing invoices Work with the sales and marketing teams to track deposits, refunds, and outstanding balances Retail & Inventory Finance
Support financial operations for pop-up retail and e-commerce initiatives Track product costs, margin performance, and revenue projections Reconcile inventory purchases, sales, and returns in collaboration with the operations team. Monitor cash flow and financial performance of the product division, providing insights for strategic planning Oversee and reconcile inventory related financial transactions ensuring accurate accounting of stock levels, cost of goods sold, and inventory valuation Reporting & Compliance
Assist in month-end and year-end financial closings Generate financial reports for leadership, highlighting key performance insights Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal financial policies, sales tax and relevant retail tax regulations SKILLS, CORE COMPETENCIES, & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Skills
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent certification is a plus 5 years of accounting experience, in e-commerce, retail finance, product-based businesses, ideally in interior design. Understanding of the industry is a must Proficiency in accounting softwares such as QuickBooks and/or Microsoft Dynamics 365, that integrates with Shopify Strong knowledge of P&L management, forecasting, budgeting, and demand planning. Experience with inventory reconciliation and product costing in a retail or design environment. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, financial modeling, VLOOKUP, etc.). Strong knowledge of e-commerce and retail tax regulations. Core Competencies
