POSITION TITLE: Phlebotomist
CLASSIFICATION: Hourly, Non-Exempt
LOCATION: Clinic
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for serving patients by identifying the best method for retrieving
specimens, preparing specimens for laboratory testing and performing
screening procedures (in a mobile setting)
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Lead Physician
JOB DUTIES:
Responsible for the timely collection of patient laboratory specimens consistent with federal and state
regulations, including of the following:
1. Complete mobile blood draws.
2. Manage monthly patient lists for medical testing, including follow-up testing as required by
state guidelines.
3. Review, post, and disseminate all laboratory results in a timely manner.
4. Track all documents from the laboratory for accuracy and compliance.
5. Prepare specimens for shipping.
6. Maintain appropriate inventory for all laboratory procedures.
7. Maintain an organized and sanitary work environment.
8. Provide input into overall treatment program philosophy, treatment services and patient
care.
9. Prepare reports for participation in treatment team meetings.
10. Provide consultation to team members regarding lab testing, results, and other relevant
patient issues.
11. Ensure the maintenance of quality patient care.
12. Maintain the highest level of confidentiality and appropriate boundaries with patients.
13. Meet BHG attendance standards and be present and ready for work at the beginning of their
established work schedule.
14. Report any work-related injury or illness, or workplace hazards or security issues immediately
to supervisor.
15. Responsible for ensuring CLIA Waiver requirements are maintained and communicated to
team member responsible for maintaining treatment center licensure.
16. Consistently demonstrate and uphold CCCHC's principle of providing quality health and
human services to the medically underserved and low-income populations in a culturally
sensitive manner.

17. All other duties, as assigned.
Special Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attributes:
• Ability to work with psychiatric population
• Ability to drive to multiple mobile locations daily
• Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
• Ability to work well under pressure, take initiative and be flexible and cooperative.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information and Company records.
• Ability to work effectively with both employees and managers.
• Ability to convey a positive and professional image to patients and employees.
• Demonstrated proficiency in various PC applications, including E-mail, Internet and networking
devices.
• Knowledge of OSHA requirements and practices.
• Required to know, follow and enforce safe work practices, and be aware of company policies
and procedures related to job safety, including safety rules and regulations.
• Reliable transportation, auto insurance, and current CA Driver License required.
Education and Experience Requirements
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Certified Licensed Phlebotomist required.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
Working Conditions
Normal mobile environment with:
• Walking, reaching with hands and arms, stooping and kneeling, including the ability to help
patients ambulate.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks while also being tactful, diplomatic, and empathetic.
• Ability to organize and schedule work effectively.
• Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with patients, customers, managers and other
levels of personnel, in person and on the telephone.
• Ability to pay close attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain composure under conditions of urgency and/or time constraint.
• Ability to handle and maintain patient confidentiality.
