Job Title: Project Engineer (Mechanical)
We are seeking a talented and experienced Project Engineer (Mechanical) to join our diverse team in Kuwait. The successful candidate will lead and monitor all mechanical engineering activities for internal projects at Kuwait Steel, ensuring project designs align with scope, schedule, cost, and quality parameters within the Projects and Engineering and Facilities Management Department.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Evaluating project requests from Kuwait Steel clients to determine scope, feasibility, and resource needs.
- Managing the scope of work post-feasibility, converting requests into service requests for external contractors.
- Developing conceptual and detailed mechanical designs considering safety, functionality, and regulatory compliance.
- Specifying materials and equipment, ensuring quality, durability, and system compatibility.
- Securing internal approval of project scope before issuing RFQs to contractors.
- Managing RFQ processes according to departmental policies.
- Conducting technical adjudication and reviewing contractor discounts.
- Tracking and documenting all phases of project scope development and approvals.
- Supporting procurement and project close-out activities.
- Monitoring project execution, quality, and safety on-site.
- Promoting a safe and engaging workplace for mechanical engineering staff.
- Performing performance appraisals and providing feedback to team members.
- Developing KPIs aligned with departmental goals.
- Contributing to project scheduling and reviewing contractor variation orders.
- Reviewing and approving mechanical and general layout drawings and as-built documentation.
- Contributing to safety culture through compliance with HSE policies and participation in audits.
- Reporting safety issues and ensuring proper use of PPE.
- Developing and issuing safe work permits.
- Providing regular project updates and progress reports.
- Contributing to departmental reports and documentation.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering.
- 10-15+ years of experience in heavy industry mechanical engineering design and project management.
- GCC experience (preferred but optional).
- Ability to develop technical scope of work for industrial projects.
