Lead Operating Engineer (LOE)
effectively performs engineering duties, supports, manages, and develops assigned engineers, engages with the onsite client team, partners with the Facility Coordinator, and oversees the technical operation of an integrated chiller/plant facility management system, including electrical, mechanical, and fire suppression systems. This role operates in a 24x7 environment with no unplanned downtime to critical loads. The LOE advises the Facility Manager on technical issues and recommends engineering solutions to resolve building systems problems. The primary focus is to maintain 100% uptime of the facility by utilizing the engineer team and vendor partners. Qualifications Experience Minimum of 5 years experience in mission-critical facilities and maintenance. Extensive knowledge of central building plant operations and reliability engineering techniques used in office and light manufacturing facilities. Ability to read electrical & mechanical drawings, wiring schemes, and control diagrams. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with an emphasis on technical documents. Ability to diagnose problems in building support systems and recommend solutions in a multi-vendor environment. Understanding of low voltage wiring techniques. Proven problem-solving capabilities. Education High school diploma or equivalent in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project. Moderate understanding of computer hardware architecture. Engineering licensure is desired. Administrative Use and oversight of Daily Corrigo (CMMS). Manage engineer schedules, parts ordering, spare parts inventory, scheduling of contractor work, emergency response procedures, and maintenance of technical records. Reporting Prepare reports on building infrastructure, critical spare parts, maintenance performance, and after-action reviews. Managerial Provide oversight and direction to engineers, staff training and development, respond to emergency calls outside normal hours, and conduct annual performance reviews. Technical Operate integrated chiller plant facilities, perform site engineering tasks, serve as escalation point, solve technical problems, develop maintenance plans, measure contractor performance, provide health and safety guidelines, test and commission equipment, and assist in project planning and budgeting. Clerical Maintain system records, drawings, manuals, and reports.
